Building your Vivo

A home fit for your fish!

Start building your Vivo world today. Simply follow our step-by-step instructions to set up your Vivo in minutes. Then wait just 7 days before adding your fish.

Fish like to be in a cool, quiet place away from direct sunlight. When filled, your Vivo weighs around 25kgs so it needs to be on a flat surface close to a power source. A special Vivo Stand* is available, which is ideal.

Once you’ve found the perfect spot for your Vivo – where it won’t get knocked or disturbed – stick to it! If you do have to move your aquarium, make sure you empty it first. Do not attempt to move your Vivo while it is full of water.

Your Vivo is made up of these main parts:

Fishtank
Lid assembly
Fishtank
Power-Filter
Fishtank
Obstacle course and backdrops
Fishtank
Vivo aquarium with built-in Digi-Care Guide

Also included with your Vivo: Vivo Safe, Vivo Care, Vivo Goldfish Flake, Vivo Filter Start and Vivo Power Transformer. If any parts are missing, please contact your local stockist.

*NB: Stand only available from your local stockist

Fit the filter

Some people think you must have plants to keep aquarium water healthy and oxygenated, but in fact all you need is a good filter. Your Vivo Power-Filter hooks inside the back of the tank and slides behind the obstacle course. See ‘Get connected’ to find out how to plug it in.

Fit the Filter

Get connected

Before you fill up your Vivo you need to connect all the electrical products.

Make sure the MAINS POWER IS OFF, then match the right lead to the right socket (‘F’ for Filter, ‘P’ for Mains Power). But don’t switch on yet, you’ve got to fill it with water first.

Obstacle Course

Your fish will love this obstacle course to safely play and hide in. The pieces easily slot together in loads of different ways – so start experimenting!

Obstacle Course

Backdrops

Slot the bottom of the backdrops between the base section and the outside of the tank. The tops tuck snugly under the tank lip.

Wait for it

Once your Vivo is set up and filled with water, switch it on. You should wait at least 7 days before you add your fish. This is how long it takes for the water to warm up to room temperature.

Introducing your fish

Once you’ve waited 7 days you can carefully introduce your fish. When you go to buy your fish, mention that you have a brand new aquarium and follow the shop’s advice about what fish will be suitable and how best to introduce them. Your fish will come in a little bag, so scoop out some water and gently float the bag in the top of the tank for 10 minutes. Roll down the top of the bag and let your fish swim out – be careful, they are very delicate.

Once your fish are in your Vivo you may never have to touch them again. But on the rare occasion that you do, we advise that you use a Vivo Net to protect their fins and scales.

Remember, moving house is stressful for everyone – fish too. So go easy on the little fella!

Make the water ‘safe’

Fill the tank up to the water-level line with fresh water. Take the bottle marked ‘Vivo Safe’ and carefully add 10 capfuls near the filter. Fish can’t live in untreated tap water, so don’t forget to do this, or they may not survive.

Put a lid on it

The clear dome simply twists and locks into position on the lid. The feeding hatch just slots into the top.

Go digital

To help care for both your fish and your Vivo world, there’s a simple digital control panel to remind you when to feed, clean and service your Vivo. It might surprise you, but too much feeding and cleaning can harm your fish just as much as too little. So make sure you set your Digi-Care Guide and check it regularly for updates.

There are four lights that work with onscreen prompts to tell you what to do. You simply follow the prompts and use the ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ scroll buttons along with the ‘OK’ button to select and set functions (see the ‘Step-by-Step’ section).

  2. Grip the lid as shown and lift the filter pad out of the filter.
  3. Place a bag or container under the pad to catch any drips.
  4. Hold the lid and pad over the bin and squeeze hard until the pad is released.
